Molly Sauter is a Vanier Scholar and PhD candidate in at McGill University in Montreal, researching the political theory and philosophy of networked communication technologies.
She is also the author of "The Coming Swarm: DDOS Actions, Hacktivism, and Civil Disobedience on the Internet." She holds a masters degree in Comparative Media Studies from MIT, and is a former fellow and research affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. Her writing on technology and society has been published in The Atlantic, the LA Times, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Christian Science Monitor, BoingBoing, io9, the Journal of Communications, and the American Behavioral Scientist. She is a frequent expert on technology and politics for the CBC, the BBC, and NPR. Her book, The Coming Swarm: DDoS Actions, Hacktivism, and Civil Disobedience on the Internet, was published by Bloomsbury in 2014. It appeared on several Best of and Must Read lists for 2014, including those of NPR's Science Friday, io9, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
